Since its very beginning, the main labor of the GCA is to develop research projects in the field of drug addiction collaborating with public and private institutions and organisms. Additionally, professionals from the Research Group work give training seminars, provide clinical services and technical advice about drug addiction and related issues.
Members of the GCA are researchers and teachers from the Department of Psychology at the University of Oviedo and other universities, as the Miguel Hernández University (Elche) and Complutense University (Madrid), as well as other professionals from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oviedo. The Research Group also has close national and international collaborators for several projects, with health networks and research groups from Spanish and foreign Universities, such as Oxford Brooks (UK), University of Nijmegen (Netherlands), University of Berna (Switzerland), Psychiatry and Neurology Institute (Poland), and the University of Vermont, State University of Iowa, Florida Nova Southeastern University and University of Arkansas of Medical Sciences (USA).3
